Depth of mantle plumes sources and its thermal regime
550.361

Abstracts:
The features of heat supply, the volcanism history and the magma chambers depth are considered for five mantle plumes: Hawaiian, Mascarene, Icelandic, Yellowstone, and Galapagos. The tectono-magmatic activity evolution manifested itself in different ways in different plumes. The development of the Hawaiian and Mascarene plumes can be explained by the prolonged advection of magmatic matter from the mantle transitional layer, the source of which is located near the Lehmann boundary in the mantle (400-450 km), and the discrepancy between the center of volcanism position and heat flow anomaly is explained by the influence of the Coriolis force. In the case of the Icelandic, Yellowstone, and Galapagos plumes, their evolution is associated with not only heat and mass transfer of matter from the transitional mantle layer, but also with the influence of magmatism from the depleted mantle, which is characteristic for divergent zones.
Keywords:
heat flow, mantle plume, asymmetry, Coriolis force, heat and mass transfer
